I love all the elements of raw canvas; from the look and texture it presents to the sound of the ripping when I’m preparing the canvas to be stretched.
There’s no room for error when leaving raw canvas as the background for the piece. I live for the pressure and meticulousness of these parameters I’ve set for these works, but I also allow for my “wild hare” to run within these bounds, to challenge them.
It’s all about interdependence, duality, yin/yang; balance. The way I make art is the way I live my life and vice versa.
